Big Lots is back. After December’s going-out-of-business sale and January’s closures, many thought it was the end. But now, a comeback is brewing.
According to the Big Lots website, nine stores will reopen April 10. All of them are located in the South.
Here’s where they’re reopening:
- Clarksville, Tennessee
- Dickson, Tennessee
- Gallatin, Tennessee
- Mount Sterling, Kentucky
- Metairie, Louisiana
- Pearl, Mississippi
- Tupelo, Mississippi
- Asheboro, North Carolina
- Roanoke, Virginia
Parade Home & Garden says this revival comes thanks to Variety Wholesalers. They bought 200 Big Lots locations. This is just the first wave, running from April through early June.
Most of the stores scooped up are in the Southeast. Variety Wholesalers plans to keep the Big Lots name alive. The company also owns Roses Discount Stores.
Big Lots made its name on bargain shopping. Overstocked home goods. Discontinued items. Deep discounts. Fans say it drifted from that in recent years.
Now it’s coming back to its roots. Variety Wholesalers is bringing back the old-school vibe. Cheap deals and closeout treasures.
“New ownership, fresh products & unbeatable closeouts at prices so low, you'll want to shout!” a Big Lots Facebook post says. “We think…wait we KNOW you are going to be very happy with the new Big Lots! and what we have in store for the return.”
“Lots of great deals. Lots of bargain hunting. Lots of closeouts. Lots of fun items. We'll have brands but you'll still save BIG.”
