ESPN Host 'Might Entertain' Politics Because Democrats Look 'Pathetic'

ESPN host Stephen A. Smith stirred up speculation over the weekend. He hinted at a possible move into politics. And he didn’t hold back on his thoughts about the Democratic Party.

“I doubt I’ll ever run. It’s not me. I live a pretty good life, and I don’t want to ruin it by getting involved in politics,” Smith said on his podcast.

Then, he dropped a bold statement. “But I got to tell y’all something: The Democratic Party looks so pathetic,” he said. “After this election, I might entertain one.”

Smith believes Democrats are vulnerable. He pointed to Kamala Harris’s loss to President Trump. In his view, this opens the door for an outsider to shake things up.

“How much would it take to beat y’all?” he asked. “And Trump can’t run again. He’s done.”

Mediaite was the first to spotlight Smith’s comments. His words quickly gained attention.

Smith isn’t new to political talk. He’s one of the most well-known sports media figures. Lately, he hasn’t been shy about sharing his views.

He also makes regular appearances on cable news. Last fall, he had a fiery debate with Fox News host Sean Hannity. They clashed over the presidential race.
