President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are visiting Tokyo, Japan. This is the first state visit by a foreign leader during the Reiwa era in Japan.
The Reiwa Era started in May 1, 2019. This was the day when Naruhito, Akihito ascended to the throne as the 126th Emperor of Japan.
President Trump will accompany Emperor Naruhito to a sumo wrestling tournament later on in their visit.
To pay tribute to President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump as visitors, Japan lit up the famous Tokyo Skytree in red, white and blue stars and stripes.
