Senator Rand Paul, who is also an ophthalmologist, has reportedly been banned from YouTube for a week after posting a video that questioned the efficacy of wearing masks to fight COVID-19.
This is not the first time they have censored the Senator. Last week his interview with Newsmax was removed because he stated that "there's no value" in wearing masks.
Paul told reporters on Tuesday, “they are now banning all my speech, including speech that is given on the senate floor, which is protected constitutional [Sic]. YouTube now thinks they are smart enough and ‘godly’ enough that they can oversee speech, even constitutionally protected speech.”
He also tweeted on Tuesday, “A badge of honor . . . leftwing cretins at Youtube banning me for 7 days for a video that quotes 2 peer reviewed articles saying cloth masks don’t work.”

In the controversial video, Paul said that “most of the masks you get over the counter don’t work. They don’t prevent infection,” and “trying to shape human behavior isn’t the same as following the actual science, which tells us masks don’t work.”

YouTube claims that Paul’s three-minute video violated the platform’s policy on “medical misinformation.” The company bans any content they deem misinformation, including anything suggesting “masks do not play a role in preventing the contraction or transmission of Covid-19.” A YouTube spokesperson stated, “we apply our policies consistently across the platform, regardless of [the] speaker or political views, and we make exceptions for videos that have additional context such as countervailing views from local health authorities.”
Evidence for the efficacy and necessity of face masks has been a hot topic since the beginning of the pandemic, with multiple contradicting reports. In addition to Senator Paul, Michael Osterholm of the University of Minnesota Center for Infectious Disease Research told CNN, “we know today that many of the face cloth coverings that people wear are not very effective in reducing any of the virus movement in or out.”
It's funny that YouTube and Facebook immediately censor, silence, and ban any doctor, official, or other influential people who have anything to say about the pandemic that does not go along with the propaganda.
