First Lady Melania Trump is threatening to sue Hunter Biden for $1 billion over comments he made linking her to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Trump’s lawyers claim Biden’s remarks caused “overwhelming financial and reputational harm.” The statements were made during an interview on Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan and later published on YouTube.
In a letter to Biden, her legal team demanded he retract the “false, defamatory, disparaging, and inflammatory statements” immediately.
The letter says the interview was “re-published by various media outlets, journalists, and political commentators with millions of social media followers” — spreading the claims to tens of millions of people.
Trump’s attorney, Alejandro Brito, pointed to two specific comments from Biden in which he said Epstein introduced Melania to Donald Trump.
Biden claimed he was citing a Daily Beast article written by “serial fabulist” Michael Wolff.
“Following receipt of our cease-and-desist demand letter just a week ago, The Daily Beast issued an apology to Mrs. Trump and retracted the false and defamatory statements contained in the Article by deleting it in its entirety,” Brito wrote.
“Despite this, you have unjustifiably relied upon Mr. Wolff’s false, defamatory, disparaging, and inflammatory statements about Mrs. Trump and maliciously elected to republish them.”
The letter demands Biden issue a public retraction and apology. It also instructs him to preserve all evidence and communications related to his claims and the interview.
If Biden doesn’t comply, Trump’s team warns she will “file legal action for over $1 Billion Dollars in damages.” The letter closes with, “You are on notice.”
Biden appeared on Channel 5 with Andrew Callaghan twice — once in July and again in August. The July interview lasted about three hours and has been viewed more than 3.6 million times. The August video, where the offending comments were made, runs just over an hour and has already racked up nearly 1.2 million views.
