According to a report from the New York Post, migrants are departing from New York City and traveling north into Canada via buses funded by taxpayers.
New York City is at the center of the East Coast's migrant crisis, with thousands of undocumented immigrants flooding the city and some residing in luxurious, taxpayer-funded hotel rooms.
However, not all migrants are satisfied with their experience in the city, according to the New York Post. They have expressed their preference for accepting "free tickets" to travel north to Canada, where they hope to find better prospects in a country with lower levels of homelessness and drug abuse.
"The military gave me and my family free bus tickets," one Venezuelan migrant said to the New York Post.
"I am going to Canada for a better quality of life for my family," migrant Raymond Peña told The New York Post.
Another migrant reported being "evicted" from the Row hotel near Times Square, after which they were relocated to a homeless shelter in Brooklyn.
Last month, a whistleblower at the Row Hotel made public videos and photos showing illegal immigrants damaging the hotel and letting "good" food go to waste.
"The chaos that we see at the Row today is [caused] by migrants being drunk, drinking all day, smoking marijuana [and] consuming drugs," Felipe Rodriguez said.
The whistleblower also reported the Row Hotel facing incidents of "domestic violence" among migrants, instances of young people "engaging in sexual activities in the stairways," and a physical altercation between a migrant and a hotel security guard.
Manuel Rodon, a migrant from Venezuela, expressed concern to the New York Post about the widespread drug use in New York City.
Mayor Eric Adams of New York City has implored the White House to provide assistance regarding the ongoing migrant crisis.
The Mayor was referring to the approximate 21,000 migrants who have arrived in New York City via buses since the previous year.
The Mayor's office, despite begging for aid from the White House for the nearly 21,000 migrants that have been brought to New York since last year, has also sought to present a pro-migrant stance. The Mayor's press secretary has noted that asylum seekers are being offered free roundtrip tickets on the NYC Ferry every day.
Would also note that asylum seekers are also being provided with free roundtrip tickets on a NYC Ferry every day. https://t.co/d0c4ZxtNVa
