MSNBC Dumps 3 More Shows in Major Network Shakeup

MSNBC isn’t done cutting shows. After canceling Joy Reid’s program, three more anchors are reportedly on the chopping block.

According to the New York Post, left-wing hosts Katie Phang and Jonathan Capehart are losing their shows. An MSNBC insider confirmed the news.

Staffers for Capehart and Phang were informed their programs were getting axed. This came after The Guardian reported that Ayman Mohyeldin’s show would also be canceled.

Despite the cuts, all three will stay with the network. Mohyeldin and Capehart will get new show slots, while Phang will transition into a floating legal correspondent role.

Mohyeldin’s staff was told the show will likely end by April. His time slot is currently held by Rachel Maddow, who will return to a Monday-only schedule after Trump’s first 100 days in office.

The shakeup is part of a larger overhaul at MSNBC. Parent company Comcast is preparing to separate MSNBC from NBCUniversal and rebrand it under a new entity called SpinCo.

New network president Rebecca Kutler is overseeing the transition. She took over in January and has been making sweeping changes.
