NFL Team Responds to Security Guard Forcing Fan to Throw MAGA Hat in the Trash

The Arizona Cardinals have apologized to a woman for being asked to remove her "Make America Great Again" hat before entering State Farm Stadium for a game against the Los Angeles Rams.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, the team confirmed the mistake and clarified the incident.

"A stadium security member misunderstood the policy on prohibited items. Political signage is not allowed, but this didn’t apply to the hat. We’ve reached out to apologize and ensure clarity for future games," the team stated.

The woman, named Susan Rosener, was on her way to watch the Cardinals’ 41-10 win when a staff member stopped her. According to reports, Rosener was told to take off the hat, which bore the slogan of Donald Trump’s campaign.

"You can't bring that in here," the staffer allegedly said to Rosener, according to News 12 Phoenix.

Rosener recalled, "She said, 'No political hats or shirts.' I was confused but didn’t argue. Looking back, I wish I had, but I didn’t want to risk our season tickets."

The situation was first brought to light on X by Turning Point Action Field Rep. VP Alyssa Goncales. She posted about Rosener and shared text messages from others who claimed similar experiences at the stadium.

The team responded, "We’ve only heard from one individual, but if others were asked the same, that’s not our practice. In 18 seasons, this hasn’t happened. We’re making sure all third-party staff understand our policies going forward."

Though there are banned items for game days, "political hats or shirts" are not on the list.

This isn’t the first time fans supporting Trump have faced similar situations at sports events. Dion Cini, who hung pro-Trump banners at several MLB games in 2021, was removed from multiple stadiums.

Cini commented on Rosener’s situation, saying, "That’s the country we’re in now. They asked her because they knew she’d comply. You’d have to force me to take off my MAGA hat."

Arizona remains a battleground state for the upcoming election, with recent polling showing close races between key candidates.

In response to the hat incident, Kari Lake encouraged Cardinals fans to wear MAGA hats to every game for the rest of the season.

Concerns over voter registration issues in Arizona have also emerged, with 100,000 voters facing questions over their citizenship status. The state’s Democratic secretary of state has vowed to address the problem while ensuring those affected can still vote.
