It has been a common threat from celebrities to claim they're moving to another country due to Donald Trump being president. Now an Ohio sheriff has responded to the trend, offering to help pay for their one-way tickets.
Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones announced that he will help put money towards one-way tickets for any celebrity who threatens to move to another country if Trump is re-elected.
Bruce Springsteen recently claimed he would be “on the next plane” to Australia if Trump was re-elected, and Tommy Lee also said he would leave the U.S. for Europe if Trump won another term.
“Dude, I swear to god if that happens, then I’m coming over to visit the UK. I’m out of here. I’ll go back to my motherland, go back to Greece and get a house on one of the islands,” Lee told London magazine the Big Issue, according to TMZ.
“Hell, I’ll even help them pack,” the sheriff joked on the Butler County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
He wrote, "My Offer Still Stands. Sheriff Richard K. Jones states it’s that time of election year again. Celebrities threatening to leave the United States if the President is re-elected. This happened in 2016 and it is believed not one celebrity left then and it appears the same threats are being made this election year. Sheriff Jones would like to extend an invitation to put money towards a one-way ticket for any celebrity that would like to leave the country this time around if President Trump is re-elected."
