Pat Sajak Apologizes for Awkard On-Air Fumble: 'I just messed up'

Pat Sajak, who has hosted "Wheel of Fortune" for many years, had an uncomfortable moment on TV during New Year's. He is 77 years old and got mixed up while reading his cards. This happened when he was talking about the lives of the people playing the game.

When Pat Sajak was introducing the people playing "Wheel of Fortune," he asked Jason, a mental health nurse, about his love life.

Pat Sajak, looking at his cue cards, asked Jason if he was a "Married man?" Jason looked surprised and said, "No, I’m single, actually."

Sajak realized his mistake and tried to laugh it off, saying "You know, I’m sorry." He admitted he mixed up a cue card and pointed it out on the show.

Sajak made another joke, saying "So you’re a circus acrobat, I see?" He then got back on track and correctly introduced Jason as a single dad from Paris, Texas, with two adopted boys. Sajak apologized to Jason, mentioning the New Year's weekend as a reason for the mix-up.

This incident shows how Sajak often makes quick and funny comments on "Wheel of Fortune." Recently, he had a witty response to a contestant who criticized a puzzle but couldn't solve it. In a video recap titled "Jill’s Bonus Round," Sajak pointed out this moment and explained what happened.

Pat Sajak told a contestant, Jill, that she failed to solve a puzzle she thought she could. He said she blamed him during a commercial break. The puzzle was in the category "What Are You Doing?".

Jill tried to guess the puzzle but couldn't. When time ran out, the answer was shown as "Voicing our opinion." Sajak told her she was just a bit late in guessing. Jill joked about the puzzle, and Sajak replied humorously that it was one she didn't solve. He made another joke about the tense atmosphere during Christmas as he showed the prize.

Meanwhile, Pat Sajak is planning to leave "Wheel of Fortune." Ryan Seacrest will take over as the new co-host with Vanna White next season. Sajak announced his departure in June after hosting the show for 40 years.
