Trump Unleashes Roast on 2024 Republican Rival, Leaving Audience in Stitches

Former President Donald Trump left a crowd in stitches on Tuesday after humorously commenting on the physical appearance of one of his rivals for the GOP nomination, specifically targeting former Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's weight, during a rally in Windham, New Hampshire.

“No Christie, he’s eating right now. He can’t be bothered,” Trump quipped, during an event that found him jesting about his GOP rival's weight.

He playfully addressed the crowd, and apparently an individual audience member, saying, “Sir, please do not call him a fat pig. That’s very disresp–” he said, before trailing off with, “Don’t call him–”

Responding to a reaction from the crowd, Trump continued, “See, I’m trying to be nice. Don’t call him a fat pig. You can’t do it. You can’t do that. So now, because you’re not allowed to do that, and therefore, we’re not going to do it. Okay? We want to be very civil, right?”

Christie's campaign remained silent on the incident, with no response to NBC News' request for comment.

Previously, in June, Christie had taken Trump's remarks about his weight in stride, humorously retorting to Fox News’ Howard Kurtz, “Oh, like he’s some Adonis?”

Christie further reflected, “You know, look, Howie, there are tens of millions of Americans out in your audience watching right now who, like me, have struggled with their weight. I continue to struggle. I continue to try to do better. And so … what’s that got to do with my competence for office?”
