Tulsi Gabbard: 'I don't See Deplorables When I look at Americans'

The Democratic presidential candidates are quite terrible this election, as they usually are every election. However, there is a diamond in the rough this go-around: Tulsi Gabbard. While, yes, she is a Democrat, she actually seems to have a brain! Perhaps she should run as a Libertarian rather than a liberal.

While speaking during the Democratic debate on Tuesday, Gabbard said that she does not see "deplorables" when she looks at Americans. If you remember, Hillary Clinton referred to Trump supporters as "a basket of deplorables" during the last election, and it is a name that has stuck.

Anderson Cooper inured during the debate, "We would like you to tell us about a friendship that you’ve had that would surprise us, what impact it had on you, and your beliefs."

Rep. Gabbard replied, "Where I come from in Hawaii, many of you know we greet each other with “aloha.” The challenge before us is our country is very divided. Donald Trump must be defeated. But we must do more than defeat Donald Trump."

"We need to deliver a win for the American people. We must stand united as Americans, remembering that we are all brothers and sisters, that we are all connected. This is the kind of leadership I seek to bring as president." She continued, "Inspired by the example of presidents like Abraham Lincoln, who talked about how we should have malice for none and charity for all. When I look out at our country, I don’t see deplorables, I see fellow Americans."

While I do not agree with her comment about Trump needing to be defeated, because I do expect him to serve another term, I can respect the fact that she sees us as people. She sees us as Americans, first and foremost. Even if she does not agree with our politics.
