White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre responded sharply to a journalist who remarked that he hadn't been able to pose a question for four months on Tuesday.
At the White House press briefing, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby was present to offer further insights about the U.S. role in Ukraine. The Frontier Post's managing editor, Jalil Afridi, was given an opportunity to question Kirby. Afridi mentioned his prolonged wait, asking if he might pose two questions since he had been overlooked for some time.
"Mr. Kirby, I’m getting a chance after four months, so I hope I can ask just two questions," Afridi commented.
"Uh, it’s up to Karine," Kirby replied, indicating towards the location where the press secretary was standing.
"Right? I mean, after that statement, that leaves you with one question," Jean-Pierre said, as laughter was heard in the room.
"So, should I combine them—" Afridi responded.
"I think you’re wasting our time, sir," Jean-Pierre replied. "Can you please ask a question?"

Afridi went on to question Kirby about Pakistan's role in Ukraine and the resistance from Pakistanis towards President Biden following the removal and incarceration of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.
This comment echoed a previous grievance by Simon Ateba, the Chief White House correspondent for Today News Africa, in March. He had expressed frustration, stating that he hadn't had the opportunity to direct a question to the press secretary in seven months, which resulted in a tumultuous scene.

This comment echoed a previous grievance by Simon Ateba, the Chief White House correspondent for Today News Africa, in March. He had expressed frustration, stating that he hadn't had the opportunity to direct a question to the press secretary in seven months, which resulted in a tumultuous scene.
Jean-Pierre later commented on the exchange with Ateba, saying, "As you know, this is the White House press briefing room. A historic room. A room that should have decorum. A room where folks should respect their colleagues and respect the guests that are here. And I understand that there’s going to be give and take. That’s the way the press briefing has gone for decades before me."
Recently, Jean-Pierre chose not to address a query on Monday concerning the absence of a "no seat" for journalists with disabilities in the press room, even as Biden was commemorating the Americans with Disabilities Act.
"Karine, about disability. There's no seat here in this room for disabled journalists," a journalist noted.
As the press secretary was departing from the podium at the briefing's conclusion, the same journalist reiterated, "This room has no seat for a handicapped journalist," but received no response.
Another journalist was overheard commenting, "Thank you for asking that," as Jean-Pierre exited the chamber.
