White House Walks Back Another Biden Claim, This Time with Putin

After President Biden addressed the very real possibility of Putin's use of "tactical nuclear weapons or biological or chemical weapons" the White House has since walked back these claims by Biden.

Biden said Russian President Putin is "not joking when he talks about potential use of tactical nuclear weapons or biological or chemical weapons because his military is, you might say, significantly underperforming."

"We have not faced the prospect of Armageddon since Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis," Biden continued.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has since said Russia is not prepared to use nuclear weaponry, despite the warning issued by Biden.

"We have not seen any reason to adjust our own strategic nuclear posture, nor do we have indications that Russia is preparing to imminently use nuclear weapons," White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters aboard Air Force One.

Earlier on Friday, she defended the comments made by the president, saying, "The kind of irresponsible rhetoric we have seen is no way for the leader of a nuclear-armed state to speak, and that’s what the president was making very clear."

The comments were made by Biden on Thursday while speaking to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

Biden was since asked about the "nuclear armageddon comments" on the White House lawn and responded by running away.
