Socialist Democrat Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York directed her anger towards the Libs of TikTok account, to which its creator swiftly retorted.
On Wednesday, during a congressional hearing, Ocasio-Cortez criticized Twitter officials for their testimony regarding the company's choice to limit the spread of the Hunter Biden laptop story prior to the 2020 election.
"Miss Navaroli, are you familiar with the account @libsoftiktok?" asked Ocasio-Cortez.
"I have hard of it from the news, yes," said Anika Navaroli, a former employee of Twitter’s content moderation team.
"Are you aware that from August 11 to August 16 that account posted false information about Boston Children's Hospital, claiming that they were providing hysterectomies to children?" Ocasio-Cortez asked Yoel Roth, Twitter's former head of trust and safety.
"Yes, I am aware of that and other claims from the account," Roth replied.
"And are you aware that this lie was then circulated by other prominent, far-right influencers?" she asked.
"Yes," Roth said.
"And are you aware that all these claims, which I have reiterated were false, culminated in a real life harassment and ultimately a bomb threat to the Boston Children's Hospital?" claimed Ocasio-Cortez.
"Yes, I am aware," Roth replied.
"And this account is still on that platform today, isn't it?" Ocasio-Cortez responded.
"Regrettably, yes it is," responded Roth, who looked very worried.
"Despite inspiring a bomb threat due to the right-wing incitement of violence against trans Americans in this country, because they cannot let go of this obsession with fixating violence and inciting violence against trans and LGBT people in addition to immigrants, in addition to women of color," Ocasio-Cortez said.
"This is the party that cannot pick on anyone their own size, and they are trying to co-opt an entire social media platform and use the power of this committee and of Congress in order to pursue a political agenda," she concluded.
The account had stated that the hospital had provided hysterectomies for "young women" in a tweet from August. The hospital responded by scrubbing its videos about transgender treatments from the internet.
The woman behind the popular account implied in a tweet that Ocasio-Cortez was defaming her.

She also made fun of Roth for being upset about the fact that the account was still operating.
"I can’t event [sic] express in words the amount of satisfaction I feel knowing that Twitter’s former chief of censorship @yoyoel, is triggered by this account’s existence. And the best part is, there’s absolutely nothing he can do about it!" she tweeted.
