If you have ever seen "The Purge" then you may remember the eerie sirens in the dystopian thriller film. Now a folks in a Louisiana parish are able to get a free trial of life of dystopia, complete with the wailing sirens to warn them of curfew.
A video obtained by KATC shows police cars in Crowley, Louisiana patrolling empty streets while blasting the "Purge" siren to alert residents that curfew is hitting and they cannot leave their house. This is similar to the yearly Purge tradition, in which the sirens are blared and suddenly all laws are suspended for one night a year.

Police officials told KATC that the siren's origin was not made clear to them before its use on city streets, adding that they would not use a siren going forward.
A sheriff's department representing Acadia Parish, in which Crowley is located, issued a statement after the video was reported by news outlets clarifying that it had not used the siren but had received numerous complaints from community members about its use.
"Last night a 'Purge Siren' was utilized by the Crowley Police Department as part of their starting curfew. We have received numerous complaints with the belief that our agency was involved in this process. We were not involved in the use of the "Purge Siren" and will not utilize any type of siren for this purpose," the Acadia Parish Sheriff's office said in a statement.
"Calls regarding this matter should be directed to the Crowley Police / Chief Broussard and not the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office," they added.
Louisiana officials have implemented stay-at-home orders and closed nonessential businesses amid the spread of coronavirus in the state. The virus has infected nearly 15,000 in the state and killed more than 500.
Siren origin aside, how is this okay? We are living in a police state and people should not be okay with this? Over the last several weeks we have watched our freedoms being stripped on a nearly daily basis...and Americans are advocating it!? This is not the land of the free anymore. More like land of the sheep.
