Critics Blast White House for Denying Biden Comment: 'It's literally on video'

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre faced backlash on Wednesday. She denied that President Biden referred to Trump supporters as "garbage."

During a virtual Harris campaign call with Voto Latino, Biden criticized Trump’s rally. This event had made headlines for comedian Tony Hinchiffe’s jokes. One joke referred to Puerto Rico as a "floating island of garbage."

Biden remarked, "The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters." He added, "His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable and it is un-American."

Jean-Pierre attempted to clarify his statement. She told reporters, "He was not calling Trump supporters garbage." She reiterated Biden's message that he is "a president for all."

She stated, "He does not view Trump supporters or anybody who supports Trump as garbage." Biden has emphasized he represents all Americans, regardless of their political alignment.

Commentators, however, questioned Jean-Pierre's interpretation. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee reacted sharply. He wrote, "5 Alarm fire at the WH when KJP's pants catch fire in spontaneous combustion after she claims Joe didn't really call Trump supporters ‘garbage.’"

Tarrant County GOP chairman Bo French expressed disbelief at the administration’s response. He said, "It amazes me more people aren't appalled by the outright lies these people tell." He added, "We watched the video. He clearly called us garbage."

Video journalist Nick Sortor also chimed in. He mocked Jean-Pierre’s claims, stating, "even though it’s LITERALLY ON VIDEO." White House press reporter Anthony Hughes criticized her remarks as "ridiculous." Podcaster Matt Bilinsky quipped, "Man was this a gift to Trump."
