During a recent interview, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) expressed his partial affinity towards the former President Trump's nickname for him, "Ron DeSanctimonious."
“I don’t know how to spell the sanctimonious one. I don’t really know what it means, but I kinda like it, it’s long, it’s got a lot of vowels,” DeSantis said during an interview with Piers Morgan set to air on Thursday. “We’ll go with that, that’s fine.”
“I mean, you can call me whatever you want, just as long as you also call me a winner, because that’s what we’ve been able to do in Florida, is put a lot of points on the board and really take this state to the next level,” he continued.
In preparation for a potential 2024 challenge, former President Trump created the moniker "DeSanctimonious" for the Florida governor, targeting him ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.
Despite considering alternative options, such as "Meatball Ron," "Ron DisHonest," "Ron DeEstablishment," and "Tiny D," former President Trump ultimately seemed to prefer his original "DeSanctimonious" moniker for Governor DeSantis. These nicknames were reportedly workshopped by Trump.
“To me, it’s just background noise,” DeSantis said of the nicknames. “It’s not important for me to be fighting with people on social media. It’s not accomplishing anything for the people I represent.”

Governor DeSantis had previously suggested that he would wait until the completion of Florida's legislative session in May to announce his decision regarding a potential presidential bid in 2024.
