The BET founder too CNBC that no current Democratic candidate stands a chance at beating President Trump in the 2020 presidential election.

He said that the economy is strong under Trump and that the president has an ability “to dominate the news cycle” which makes it hard for any of the Dem candidatees to 'focus on substance.'

“I think the president has always been in a position where it’s his to lose based on his bringing a sort of disruptive force into what would be called political norms,” Johnson said.

“If you take a snapshot today, I don’t think that group is capable of beating Donald Trump despite what the polls say,” he continued, “I do not see anybody in the Democratic primary race today that is enough in the center where I believe most of the voters are, and I particularly think where most of the African American voters are."

“It means that I’m going to speak my mind, speak in an independent way based on the facts and not try to get caught up in the politics,” Johnson added.

He also said that despite not believing in any of the current candidates, and giving Trump credit for doing positive things, he will not be voting for the president in the upcoming 2020 election.
