Matthew Perry's Close Friend Debunks Conspiracy Theories About His Social Media Posts in Final Days

Athenna Crosby, seen in the company of Matthew Perry at a meal just a day prior to his passing, dismissed speculations that suggested his social media posts with Batman allusions were veiled pleas for assistance.

Crosby maintained that the "Friends" celebrity was cheerful and put to rest the conjectures circulating among fans on social media.

“Anybody whose speculating that that had anything to do with it, I think they’re getting carried away,” she told TMZ. “I was one of the last people to see him alive. He was in an extremely good mood. He was excited about the future. He was taking care of his health, and the fact that he died was a freak accident, but there’s nothing fishy about it,” she insisted.

Perry's body was discovered in the hot tub of his Los Angeles residence on October 28, prompting fans to scrutinize his recent social media activity for any signs that might explain his sudden death. Among his final posts were several Batman-related references, featuring the Bat-Signal, along with a photo of him spending time in the same hot tub where he was later found deceased.

Crosby offered insights into Perry's demeanor on the day preceding his death and provided clarifications regarding the Batman-related posts.

“Matthew was very sweet and a little bit nerdy,” she said.

“He loved Batman. He called his car the Batmobile because it was all tinted black and had matte paint on it and everything, just like the Batmobile.”

“And he had been calling himself Mattman lately, which is like a nickname that he dubbed for himself,” she said to TMZ.

To persuade any remaining skeptics, Crosby echoed her statement firmly.

“None of that was subliminal messaging in any way,” she asserted.

She then related his posts to his well-documented affection for the superhero, saying, “He talked about his love of batman in the book,” while referring to his newly published memoir.
