This morning I got up and changed my daughter's diaper and got her fed. I went about my usual routine, which included giving Facebook a quick scroll to see what is going on in the world today. I was not prepared to sit with tears streaming down my face as I watched a heart-wrenching video of a little boy who desperately wants to die.
Yarraka Bayles shared a video of her nine year old son, Quaden, to Facebook on Wednesday after she picked him up from school "in hysterics."
Why was he in hysterics, you may ask? Because he has been bullied to the extent of literally wanting to kill himself. He has been bullied because he has a form of dwarfism and therefore looks a little different.

Nine-year-old Quaden was diagnosed with achondroplasia – the most common form of dwarfism – just three days after he was born, and has long suffered at the hands of bullies and online trolls.
“I’ve just picked my son up from school, witnessed a bullying episode, rang the principal, and I want people to know – parents, educators, teachers – this is the effect that bullying has,” Bayles said, which has been viewed 2.5 million times and shared by more than 65,000 people.

You can hear Quaden say, “Give me a knife – I want to kill myself”, adding, “I just want to die right now”.
He also points at the camera, voice full of pain, and says to those watching, "You watched me. You don't even do anything." This little boy feels so alone, and so hurt, and it's not just by the bullies. He is also hurt by those who watch the bullying and don't say a word.
“This is the impact that bullying has on a nine-year-old kid that just wants to go to school, get an education and have fun,” Ms Bayles continued, “But every single freaking day, something happens. Another episode, another bullying, another taunt, another name-calling.”
She then begs others for advice on how to raise more disability awareness so that “this doesn’t happen”.
“I’ve got some good advice – but I need more because this is the effect of bullying, this is what it’s doing. And I want people to know how much it is hurting us as a family, I want people to educate their children," the tearful mother continued, "I’ve got a son that is suicidal almost every single day. Every time there is a triggering – anything that happens at school or while we’re in public, which is almost every time we’re in public.”
While she said the family tried to be as strong and positive as possible and “only share the highlights”, Ms Bayles said that she constantly had to keep an eye on Quaden as a result of suicide attempts.
Ms Bayles told Quest Community News in 2019 that she first walked in on her son trying to take his own life when he was just six-years-old, which is when he began saying that he wished he were dead.
I could not even imagine the pain of ever knowing my child had to deal with something like that. I am nearly in tears again just thinking about it. Bullying is not okay. Teach your children to know better.
According to Kron News, Quaden has been pulled from school and his mother is weighing the options of homeschooling him.
