Walmart Shoppers Demand They Bring Back Pre-Covid Policy, But They Refuse

Customers want Walmart to bring back 24-hour shopping.

"It's time to bring back 24-hour Walmart so I can go shopping at 3 am in peace," a shopper wrote on Facebook.

Others miss the convenience and echo the sentiment.

"Right! How long must we suffer? All night Walmart!!" another person exclaimed.

"Yes, it was handy," added another.

Walmart changed its hours in 2020 for public safety. During the pandemic, hours were limited to 6 am to 11 pm. Many thought this would be temporary, but Walmart didn't return to 24-hour service.

Last year, a user on X (formerly Twitter) asked if Walmart would go back to 24 hours. Walmart replied, sticking with the reduced hours.

“We don’t have any plans on returning to 24 hours, but you can always shop online anytime,” said a spokesperson.

Labor shortages and low demand influenced their decision, as per Best Stocks.

A recent rumor claimed Walmart would resume 24-hour operations on August 14.

"Walmart has announced that starting June 3rd all locations in the U.S. will go back to 24hrs," read a viral post on X.

The post was reshared thousands of times across various platforms. Walmart had to debunk the rumor, stating no changes in hours were planned.

"[There] are no current plans to return our stores to 24 hours of operations," Walmart spokesperson Joe Pennington told Reuters.

Pennington also noted the account spreading the rumor was not connected to Walmart.

Similar rumors emerged in 2022, suggesting a return to 24-hour operations.

"Great news for late-night shoplifters. 24-hour Walmart starts back August 14, 2022," read a post shared widely on Facebook.

This rumor was debunked by USA Today.
