Another Costco Item Goes Viral, Sparking Debate Among Shoppers

Costco Wholesale might be renowned for its vast range of bulk-buy groceries, yet the membership-based warehouse club's offerings extend well beyond edibles and pantry staples.

Recently, a sectional sofa from Costco, complete with a pull-out sleeper and a storage section, has caught the attention of social media users, inciting both adulation and controversy.

The Instagram handle @costcohotfinds showcased the newly launched sleeper sofa on its public page, heralding it as an excellent bargain, as per the video that has since gone viral on both Instagram and TikTok.

The Coddle Aria Fabric Sleeper Sectional carries a price tag of $999, however, online purchases inflate the cost to $1,249.99, a surcharge attributed to delivery, setup, and packaging removal, as stated on the Costco website.

The sofa's video unveiling has amassed an impressive 14.7 million views on TikTok, coupled with 4,191 comments. The Instagram Reel of the same video has been watched a staggering 27.2 million times and has garnered over half a million likes.

Feedback came in swiftly from commenters, with a mixed bag of both praise and criticism, as some claim to have bought the Costco sofa in the past.

An Instagram user posted, "ok pause. I have this exact couch and am sitting it right now. i HATE it! sleeping on river stones would be so much more comfortable than this crap."

"I have this same exact couch and it was one of the WORST purchases ever!!!," another Instagram user commented. "The material feels super rough & the cushions don't line up evenly when you pop the foot cube out. I wouldn't recommend it."

Certain customers seem to have rallied in support of the Costco product, lauding it on the strength of their own favorable experiences.

"This couch was worth every penny and the 4 stores we searched to find it," one person wrote on Instagram.

"Omg I'm sitting on one right now its awesome," another person commented.

The longevity of the sofa was a contentious issue, as some shoppers attested to having to replace the piece within weeks, while others have managed to retain it for several years.

"This looks really COOL. But I had to return mine. It's made poorly," one person commented. "The spring popped in the cushion within 2 weeks. Such a bummer."

"I have I guess the older model of this from Costco. I got in 2014 and it's still a great couch!," a shopped on TikTok shared.
