Trump 'Thrilled' With Harris VP Choice Walz: Recalls 2020 Phone Call From Him

Former President Trump reacted to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz being picked as Kamala Harris' running mate. He said he "could not be more thrilled" about the choice.

"He's a very, very liberal man, and he's a shocking pick," Trump told the "Fox & Friends" co-hosts. "I could not be more thrilled."

Trump recalled one of the "only" times he interacted with Walz. Walz asked for help during the pandemic because anti-lockdown protesters surrounded his house.

"They only had one guard at the mansion," Trump said. "He called me, and I said, ‘What do you want me to do about it?’ I was in the White House. He asked if I would put out the word that he's a good person. And I did."

Trump continued, "Everyone put down their flags and left. It was thousands of people."

He warned that Walz is more radical than Harris on key issues like immigration and crime. Critics fear the Harris-Walz ticket could be the most far-left in history.

"If you look at his record, no walls, no security, let everybody in. He's worse than they are," Trump said. "He's a smarter version of her, if you want to know the truth."

"There's never been a ticket like this," Trump added. "They want this country to go communist immediately. He's very heavy into transgender issues, which he's not in line with the country on."

Harris announced her choice of Walz just hours before their first campaign rally in Philadelphia.

"I am proud to announce that I've asked @Tim_Walz to be my running mate," Harris announced on X. "As a governor, a coach, a teacher, and a veteran, he's delivered for working families."

Walz's selection wasn't a surprise, as his name was expected to be in contention.

"This is a shocking pick, and I think it's very insulting to Jewish people," Trump said. "It's very insulting to people that want security and anything related to making America great again."

Walz, a former congressman, is in his second term as governor of Minnesota. The Trump campaign aims to flip this reliably Democratic state this election cycle.
