'Kind of Stockholm Syndrome': Crystal Hefner Details Demands of Her Late Husband Hugh

Crystal Hefner, the widow of Hugh Hefner, recently shared insights about her experiences with multiple partners and the many stringent conditions she had to comply with at Hugh's behest.

She lived at the Playboy Mansion for ten years. Half of that time, she was a Playboy Bunny and Hugh's partner, and for the remaining years, she was his spouse. Following Hugh's passing, she has shed the constraints she was formerly bound by and has openly discussed the details of her life with Hugh in a fresh interview with the Daily Mail. "It was embarrassing. I don’t know the most people there’d been in our bedroom at one time but – a lot. Pretty bad. We were like, ‘Oh, now it’s your turn’,” she recalled, narrating her involvement in group activities.

“Nobody really wanted to be there but I think in Hef’s mind, he still thought he was in his 40s, and those nights, the people, the mansion, solidified that idea,” she said.

“He felt, ‘I’ve still got it,'” Crystal said to Daily Mail.

Crystal highlighted the dominating aspects of her relationship with the Playboy magnate. She mentioned that he specified the type of nail polish she should use, emphasizing it should be pink, light, and translucent, never with a matte finish. When her hair roots became visible, Hefner would tap her head as a reminder that she needed to maintain her hair dye.

During their marriage, Hugh set a 6pm curfew for Crystal, ensuring she was always present for their evening meals. Crystal pointed out that Hugh had a daily preference for chicken soup paired with cream cheese and crackers and insisted she join him during these meals. She also had to accompany him during movie sessions, often watching films of his choice.

In the evenings, Crystal shared that she was often involved in the group activities that Hefner was known for, and she would comply.

Crystal discussed the renowned "Sunday Fundays" at the Playboy mansion, which saw around 200 young women gather for an evening of revelry. She shared that Hefner relied heavily on Viagra to keep up with the activities involving these women, to the point where he experienced adverse reactions from the medication, notably a pronounced hearing loss on one side.

"Hef always said he’d rather be deaf and still able to have sex. Weird," commented Crystal.

According to the Daily Mail, Crystal's initial intimate encounter with Hefner was "unremarkable."

"Whatever you would like, whatever you would think, or however you would want a night to go, well, it wasn’t that," she remarked.

Reflecting on her past, she added, "Looking back, I think I had a kind of Stockholm syndrome."

She continued, "There was part of me that always thought if this was real love, there wouldn’t be other women in the bedroom. I reconciled myself to it by trying to believe that Hef loved me as best he knew how."
